Ok, I went outside to cut some of my beautiful purple ross to put in a vase, and they were just lovely until 5 minutes after I got them inside, and earwigs swarmed out of them! I've read that earwigs eat parts of the rose, and are really hard to get rid of. Any suggestions!
Earwigs! Ewwww!!

Re: Rose Earwigs
Thu, June 25, 2009 - 3:56 AMGet an old plastic plant pot and put straw into it, then get a bamboo cane, shorter than the plant you want to protect, and insert the bamboo cane next to the plant. Then place the plant pot upside down onto the bamboo cane. You'll find that the earwigs will collect in the straw. Check these traps each morning and dispose of the unwanted earwigs. They also love to nibble dahlias.
Hope this helps.
